BLCO & Grades
Crude Oil
Structured introductions for crude oil programs including Bonny Light and other internationally traded grades.
Overview
Crude oil remains the foundation commodity of the global energy market. We support qualified buyers pursuing crude oil programs — including Bonny Light Crude Oil (BLCO) and other internationally traded grades — through disciplined counterparty verification, mandate confirmation and SPA pathway coordination. Every engagement begins with authority verification on both sides of the transaction.
Specification Snapshot
- Grades
- Internationally traded grades (e.g. Bonny Light), subject to current availability confirmed between the parties
- Indicative BLCO Data
- Approximately 32–35° API, low sulfur ('light, sweet') — indicative only; assay documents govern
- Example Volumes
- Program structures are commonly discussed in the range of 1–2 million barrels per month
- Delivery Terms
- e.g. FOB loading terminal or CIF delivered, per the agreed procedure
- Documentation
- SPA pathway; proof-of-product and cargo documents per the agreed procedure
- Inspection
- Independent inspection at the loading terminal where agreed
- Payment Terms
- Contract-dependent — instrument requirements follow the contract and participating banks
Indicative educational information only. The agreed specification and the certificate of quality govern in any actual transaction.
Transaction Procedure
The Crude Oil transaction process.
Illustrative sequence — the actual steps are contract-dependent and agreed between the parties.
Qualification Both Directions
Buyer authority and funding capability are reviewed; seller-side mandate documentation from the title holder is reviewed for completeness and currency.
Procedure Alignment
The title holder's stated export procedure governs. NCNDA coverage is executed where intermediaries are involved, before sensitive documents move.
SPA Negotiation & Execution
Sale and Purchase Agreement terms are coordinated between principals — volume, delivery schedule, payment terms, inspection and title transfer.
Execution Milestones
Proof of product per the agreed procedure, instrument issuance, vessel nomination, loading inspection and closing — coordinated through documented channels.
Common Questions
Crude Oil — answered.
What is Bonny Light Crude Oil?
BLCO is a light, sweet crude grade produced in Nigeria — indicative assay values around 32–35° API with low sulfur — making it attractive to many refineries. Actual cargo quality is established by the assay and certificate of quality for that cargo.
Why do crude transactions often stall?
A common failure point is mandate documentation that does not hold up when reviewed against the title holder's stated procedure. Reviewing authority documents early — on both sides — is the core of our process.
What volumes are realistic?
Program structures are commonly discussed in the range of one to two million barrels per month. Actual availability and structure are confirmed between the parties during the process.
What documents does a crude buyer typically need?
A corporate profile with KYC/KYB, an ICPO stating grade, volume, destination and target terms, funding capability appropriate to the structure, and clear authority documentation for any representative.
